Kyle Kuzma Expecting For ‘Sizable’ Contract Extension With The Lakers

NBA teams are pretty busy reshaping their rosters for the upcoming season. The Los Angeles Lakers won the championship in Orlando, and players will try to have another strong season. Several veterans are expected to leave the team and test the market. Other players hope to get a nice deal with their current team. Young Kyle Kuzma definitely hopes to get a good contract extension with the Lakers.

The reigning NBA champions have to work pretty hard to keep the key players on the roster. The young forward fits in the winning formula and Lakers head coach Frank Vogel would love to have him back. Kuzma has one year left on his rookie contract with the team. Brian Windhorst from ESPN  believes that Kuzma will try to sign a contract extension with the team. According to his comments on The Hoop Collective podcast, Kuzma hopes to get a lucrative deal.

“Then you got Kuzma, who is extension eligible, still has a year left on his contract but is extension eligible,” Windhorst said. “And from what I understand, [he] is expecting a sizable deal, hoping for a sizable deal.”

Kyle Kuzma to get a good contract extension

Los Angeles will do whatever it takes to improve the roster in free agency and through potential trade deals. Kuzma may have to join another team if the Lakers show interest in trading for a third superstar.

Sources have linked the Los Angeles Lakers to Chris Paul and Derrick Rose. These superstars would be great additions to the team. They are under contract for the next season, and LA will have to trade for them.

Kuzma is the best trade asset LA has at the moment. He didn’t have the best game in 2019-20, but the Lakers could get a talented player for him.

In the last season, young Kuzma averaged 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the floor and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc.
