Report: Los Angeles Lakers in Play for Veteran Guard Made Available for Trade

There is a report out that the Los Angeles Lakers are in play for a veteran guard made available for trade. The Lakers are already looking towards next season to see what they can do to continue their winning ways. Obviously, this season was awesome to see how the team played together. It makes it a lot easier with both LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the roster.

But this season was still a struggle for everyone. The NBA had to delay the season due to the COVID situation which was hard to deal with for teams. But the teams that did well in the playoffs had to stay there the longest. LeBron made his feelings clear on the matter.

“I am here for one reason and one reason only, and that’s to compete for a championship,” James said. “That was my mindset once I entered the bubble, once I entered the quarantine process the first two days. And then right from my first practice my mindset was to, if I’m going to be here, make the most of it and see what you can do and lock in on what the main thing is. And the main thing was for us to finish the season and compete for a championship.

“So that’s just been my mindset throughout these — I don’t even know how many days it is, whatever how many days it is, it feels like five years so it really doesn’t matter. I’ve been as locked in as I’ve ever been in my career.”

Now that the season is over, however, the Lakers are again looking towards next season. It sounds like they might have a play for a certain guard that will be available.

Shams Charania from The Athletic reported on it.

“The New Orleans Pelicans are openly discussing point guard Jrue Holiday in trade talks and several contending teams are interested. Sources tell The Athletic.

Holiday, who has been with the team since 2013, has been a popular name in trade discussions as the Pelicans navigate a rebuild through their younger players. Thought to be one of the better defenders at his position in the league, the one-time All-Star could bolster a contending roster.

Holiday was the 2020 NBA Teammate of the Year, so his locker-room presence is something that may be appealing to other teams. He’s coming off a 2019-20 campaign where he averaged 19.1 points, 6.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game.”

This would be an interesting fit for the Lakers after most likely losing Rajon Rondo.

Do you think it could work?
