Dennis Schroder Reacts to Reported Extension Talks With Los Angeles Lakers

Dennis Schroder is looking forward to his potential contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. He is determined to wear purple and gold for a really long time. The German native didn’t hold back in sharing his desire to stay in LA long term amid initial reports that his agent has started discussions with the Lakers front office.

Schroder had a key role with the Lakers in the 138-115 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day. The newly-acquired Lakers player talked to media members regarding his extension with the team. Remember when Schroder said he expects to join the starting lineup? He kept the same attitude and said he would “love” to sign a long-term deal with the storied franchise.

“I would love to. It’s just got to be fair on both sides,” Schroder said, adding that his current team is one “hell of an organization.”

Dennis Schroder to sign a contract extension with the Lakers

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers can offer Schroder up to $83 million for four years in February. But, we can’t really tell if the Lakers are willing to commit $20 million-plus to sign the explosive guard. They did offer Anthony Davis a five-year deal worth $190 million. The team also gave LeBron a two-year deal and Kyle Kuzma signed his extension, too.

The talented player is in the final year of his contract. He will enter the open market at the end of the season if the Lakers don’t offer him a deal. Schroder will earn $15.5 million this season.

The Lakers traded Danny Green and the No.28 pick in the 2020 NBA draft to get Schroder in the offseason. He was part of a really nice package. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka also signed Marc Gasol, Montrezl Harrell, and Wesley Matthews, too.

Lakers players lost the season opener to their city rivals, but they were really dominant in the game against Luka Doncic’s Mavericks. It was a nice Christmas Game, and Lakers players showed their real dominance. They will really have to maintain this brilliance in the upcoming games.
