Ja’Whaun Bentley was questionable to return in the Patriots’ game against the Miami Dolphins. Bentley suffered an arm injury. Patriots don’t really have a deep linebacker unit. This position group is now thinner than before. In the second quarter of the Patriots’ game against Miami, CBS cameras showed Ja’Whaun Bentley making his way to the locker room.

We don’t really know what happened to Bentley. But, he is a key option for the Patriots and losing him is a big blow for the team. New England announced that Bentley was questionable to return due to his issue.

An injury blocks Stephon Gilmore

As if this wasn’t enough, Gilmore left the game late in the second quarter.

While in coverage, the Patriots cornerback slipped and twisted his ankle. Gilmore fell straight to the ground.

The Reigning Defensive Player of the Year was in pain and remained on the ground as the medical personnel rushed out to help him. Gilmore was taken to the blue tent and experts checked his injury. It was bad and he had to go to the Patriots locker room. The cornerback was putting little weight on his injured leg on the trek back to the Patriots locker room.

Losing Gilmore is another blow to the team. New England has to make a few calculations right now. Head coach Bill Belichick has to replace Gilmore with a few reliable options. Replacing Gilmore doesn’t really make sense. He is one of the better players on the Patriots roster. Sadly, there’s also a chance for Gilmore to stay on the sideline for the rest of the season.

Gilmore was part of many rumors this season. Many thought that he’d leave the team. But, the Patriots kept him on the roster. Belichick would never lose a valuable player like Gilmore. But, the offseason brings too many changes for every NFL team, and the Patriots can easily bring a few valuable players as a replacement for the veteran.
