Lakers Must Adjust Game Plan With LeBron James Due To NBA’s New Rule

The Los Angeles Lakers will soon enter the 2020-21 NBA season. The front office offered great contract extensions to both LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel will have to adjust the game plan to LeBron and his skillset.

LeBron did an amazing job with the Lakers in his second season with the team. They won the NBA title in Orlando and it was more than brilliant for the team. The four-time NBA champion won his fourth ring and he is on a good way to win his fifth championship.

The front office made some big changes to the roster. They cut and signed some valuable players. Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard and a few others left the reigning champions. But, General Manager Rob Pelinka signed Dennis Schroder, Marc Gasol, Montrezl Harrell and a few others. The 2020-21 NBA team is pretty strong, and they are willing to go after a big win.

Lakers to adjust the game plan to LeBron and his skill set

Chris Haynes from Yahoo Sports reported on the new NBA rule. According to him, the league is “implementing new resting policy for 2020-21 season with teams prohibited from resting healthy players for any high-profile, nationally-televised game and violation could result in a fine of at least $100,000.”

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel and LeBron have discussed Load management. King James will trust Vogel and his decisions. The Lakers had a really short offseason. LeBron doesn’t mind the short break, but his body has been through a lot in the past 17 seasons.

“We’re going to be as smart as we can be . . . we’re making sure I’m ready to [play],” King James said. “Obviously every game matters, but we’re competing for something that’s hard. We don’t ever want to short-change our stuff. As for me personally, it’s often a kind of fine line. But understanding with the shortened season . . . the offseason is going to be the shortest offseason for any professional sport ever. We’re very conscientious about what we do going forward as far as me personally.”

Vogel and his assistants will have to find the best way to keep LeBron healthy and fresh for the season.
