Report: Alex Caruso Suffered Hip Flexor In Preseason Opener

Los Angeles Lakers star Alex Caruso suffered a hip flexor during the pre-season opener against the Clippers. Should we panic? Scream?

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel insists that his players stay healthy and strong for the upcoming season. Injuries are definitely part of the plan. Well, of course, some things can’t be controlled. Luckily, Caruso’s injury wasn’t that bad. The front office is focused on health and depth concerns. Players need to be at their best in the 2020-21 NBA season. That’s the only way to go.

In Orlando, Caruso was dealing with a hip issue. It didn’t affect his game and he had a key role in the postseason run. However, in the second quarter of the preseason opener, Caruso limped off the court and the medical staff treated his hip. It was a minor problem, and Caruso returned later that quarter. But, he didn’t touch the floor in the second half of the game.

Mike Trudell reported it was a minor hip issue, and it won’t be a problem in the regular season.

LA is careful with Alex Caruso and his hip flexor

The Lakers front office didn’t take this lightly. They are super careful in the preseason. Caruso is a key contributor and they need to make the right decision. Risking his health is not an option. There’s no room for serious injuries.

Caruso saw just 10 minutes of action in the game against Kawhi Leonard’s Clippers. He had three points and a steal. This doesn’t change the fact that he had an incredible defense and scrappy play. LA may have lost some key defenders, but they can definitely rely on Caruso.

Talen Horton-Tucker was a real star in Friday’s game. He led the Lakers with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Kyle Kuzma had 18 points and five assists. Montrezl Harrell finished with a double-double, recording 13 points and 12 rebounds. Dennis Schroder hit a couple of threes and finished with 10 points and four rebounds.

LA played just nine players on Friday night. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Marc Gasol, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Markieff Morris sat out the preseason opener.
