Cam Newton Addresses Radical Weight Loss Plan for Next Season

Veteran quarterback Cam Newton will change so many things in the upcoming season, including his weight. The New England Patriots offered him a one-year deal packed with some incentives, but Newton failed to lead the team to the playoffs. New England missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2008 season, and head coach Bill Belichick is expected to make some changes. Will Newton stay on his roster?

The 2015 NFL MVP took to his Instagram stories to reveal his future plans. Believe it or not, he plans to lose 20 points in the offseason.

Cam Newton can easily lose weight

Let’s not forget that Newton is a vegan. We believe his weight loss will be the result of a decent diet based on organic foods and great workout plan. Newton’s diet is always well-researched, and he makes the best choices for his body. Will this weight loss change his future in the NFL?

Pro Football Reference notes that Newton measures 6’5’’ 245 pounds. His weight loss is anywhere between 240 and 250. If the quarterback reaches his weight-loss goals, he will measure at 230 or 220 points in the upcoming season.

There’s no room for concern at this point. But, Newton’s playing style is different and this weight loss may affect his game. In 2020, the veteran rushed for 12 touchdowns and 11 of these were the result of designed quarterback runs from inside the five-yard line. In his long NFL career, Newton was brilliant in converting in short-yardage situations. He used his physicality to pass through defenders into the red zone.

Will Newton be able to successeed in these situations if he hits the 225-pound weight? This is the question we’ve been getting a lot lately.

A lighter quarterback would be sort of “nimble on both feet.” This will make him a dominant dual-threat. His style will see some changes, but Newton doesn’t mind any of that.

Signing a big deal is definitely a concern right now. Some say Belichick should give him an offer, while others believe that Newton should move on from the Patriots.
