Lakers Could Target Former Top-10 Pick in ‘Surprise’ Trade Per Analyst

The trade deadline is a month away, and NBA teams are set to make big deals. The Los Angeles Lakers can’t really target a big player through a trade. Well, there’s always room for improvement, and LA can easily find a low-risk, low-rewarded player. Anthony Davis is dealing with too many injuries and he will miss a lot of time on the floor.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report said the Lakers could get Orlando Magic center Mo Bamba.

“If he’s available for cheap, the Lakers should make the phone call. He probably won’t help for this championship run—though maybe his length alone would add something in the right matchup—but maybe he could blossom in a way that contributes to a later one. If the Lakers have dynasty dreams, they’ll need more up-and-comers to travel through the pipelines, and this might be the path to a bargain blue-chipper.”

The Lakers could target another player through a trade deal

Bamba was the sixth overall pick by the Magic. He joined the team in 2018. However, he hasn’t done much on the basketball floor. Bamba is averaging 5.6 points and 14.4 minutes per game in his career. The 22-year-old can easily turn things overnight. He is talented, and yes, he may be a good fit for the Lakers.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel can add Bamba to his game-plan. LA needs size at the moment. Davis is injured. Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee are out.

One thing stands for sure. Bamba wouldn’t have much of a role in LA. The Lakers are trying to win a championship at the moment. Vogel won’t give him more minutes. The league is packed with players who can fit in LA. Some guys didn’t thrive in LA but had great success outside the Lakers.

Jordan Clarkson will probably be the Sixth Man of the Year. Julius Randle will become a star in New York. Brandon Ingram and D’Angelo Russell have seen action in All-Star games. Maybe LA will have to change the winning formula.
