Report: Los Angeles Lakers Showing Interest in 2-Time All-Star

The Los Angeles Lakers signed Damian Jones, but they still need to add size. Jones signed a 10-day contract and sustained an injury in his debut with the team. Will the front office offer him a great deal? Anthony Davis will stay on the sidelines for a month or so. Dennis Schroder missed some time, too. The Lakers will need to bolster the frontcourt. Marc Gasol is a nice player. However, outside of him and AD, the Lakers don’t have much size. Sam Amico of FortyEightMinutes says that the Lakers have shown interest in getting an All-Star.

What about Andre Drummond? He is on the Lakers’ radar.

“Along with the Knicks, Drummond continues to be linked to the Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers,” Amico wrote. “Lakers and Dallas Mavericks are said to only be interested in the event Drummond hits the buyout market.”

The Lakers have great interest in the All-Star

The Lakers can’t trade for Drummond and they may have to target the buyout market.

Drummond is an interesting player to pay attention to. His stats are great, but his teams don’t win. Drummond was elected to the All-Star team twice, but experts can’t really say that he is an elite player.

The two-time All-Star is averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. These numbers are great for a center, however he is shooting 0% from the three. Centers are expected to shoot these days, and this doesn’t go in favor of Drummond. Joel Embiid shoots 42% from beyond the arc. Centers shoot threes now, and this helps coaches make a difference between good players and bad ones.

Drummond is a good player and he will help the team on the defensive end. He is really productive and dominates the glass. But, adding him won’t help the team at all.

The Lakers need to fix the 3-point shooting. They shoot 34.8% from three and they are 25th in the league. Drummond may make the team worse from beyond the arc. LA lacks size and they need to add someone like Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee.
