Twitter Reacts to Patriots Re-Signing 2 Super Bowl Champions

The New England Patriots signed a couple of Super Bowl champions and head coach Bill Belichick doesn’t even think of stopping here. His free-agent spending continued on Wednesday. Now he is signing two of his own free agents.

The Patriots re-signed veteran running back James White and defensive lineman Lawrence Guy.

Jeremy Fowler tweeted, “Running back James White is expected to re-sign with the New England Patriots, per source. It’s not done but should be pretty soon. The versatile RB with 25 touchdown catches since 2014 back in the fold for New England.”

Adam Schefter was among the first to confirm the big news.

Both White and Guy are more than jey contributors in their role with the Patriots. They are captains and players appreciate their locker room presence.

Mike Reiss from ESPN had an expected reaction:

“First David Andrews … now James White. After investing an unprecedented amount of money on free agents who haven’t been part of their organization — which comes with notable risk — the Patriots’ ability to retain culture-type pillars like Andrews and White seems critical.”

Belichick was well aware of the holes on his roster. He was able to plug most of these gams in the first free days of free agency. The last four or five days have been about signing strong leaders from the past few seasons. White is one of them.

Field Yates from ESPN dropped a nice stat. White has been making headlines throughout his entire career.

Here’s what Patriots running back Damien Harris said of White:

“Damien Harris on James White in December: ‘I can’t even put into words how much you can learn from a guy like James White.’ … James White is definitely a guy you can say, ‘Yeah, I want to be like James White when I grow up.’ “

Talk host Amy Lawrence discussed Guy’s signing with the Patriots.

“Glad to hear DL Lawrence Guy will return to New England on a four-year deal. He and his family want to continue their charity work there. I enjoyed talking to Lawrence during SB Week about the #Patriots challenging season, Belichick, Brady and giving back.”
