Patriots’ Rex Burkhead Shares Positive Update On Rehab

The New England Patriots will have some of their former players back on the field in 2020. Some of the players entered free agency in order to test the market. NFL teams were able to put their hands on Pats veterans. Rex Burkhead is a free agent too, but he is 100% focused on his rehab.

The free agent running back is on the road to recovery. He provided a quick update on his recovery process Thursday evening. It was a positive update and Patriots fans are more than excited.

Burkhead shared two videos of him doing his workout. In one of them, we can see the running back sprinting on a treadmill.

“Knee progressing everyday,” Burkhead wrote.

Rex Burkhead hopes for a speedy recovery

Burkhead suffered a terrible knee injury last season. It was a season-ending injury and Burkhead had to leave the field in November. The running back was set to have surgery on Dec. 1. From what we can see, he recovers well.

Before his knee injury, Burkhead was the Patriots’ most effective all-around back. He totaled 466 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns in 10 games. These numbers would’ve been even more brilliant had he stayed healthy.

We don’t really know if the Patriots will have Burkhead back in 2021. He is 30 and has yet to ink a new deal with the team. Burkhead became unrestricted free agent in March.

The Patriots re-signed the ultimate pass-catching back James White a few days ago. Damien Harris, Sony Michel, J.J. Taylor, and 2020 opt-out Brandon Bolden have returned to the team. White and Harris popped in the comments section of Burkhead’s post. We also noticed the name of Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower.

Bill Belichick signed a group of talented players this offseason. He will be working with an excellent team. The Patriots will have Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry on the field in 2021. This sure means a thing.

Burkhead would be a cool addition to the current roster. Will Belichick offer him a good deal? His knee is doing really well, and hopefully, he will get another shot with the team.
