Here’s Believed Asking Price If Patriots Want To Trade For Julio Jones

Head coach Bill Belichick will have an interesting reaction to the asking price for elite WR Julio Jones. The New England Patriots have been linked to the veteran wide receiver for quite some time. Reports suggest that he’d love to play with Patriots quarterback Cam Newton.

The Atlanta Falcons will probably part ways with their star wide receiver. That’s not all. The team will probably drop Jones’ price if the Patriots are interested in negotiating for the player.

Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated said that the Patriots can get Jones in an exchange for a second-round pick. That’s all. Does this mean that the Falcons are desperately trying to get rid of the player?

A nice asking price for talented Julio Jones

Atlanta was asking teams for a first-round pick before the 2021 NFL Draft. Breer confirmed the information Monday.

Miguel Benzan or the Patriots cap expert reports that the team has $15,078,316 in salary cap space. Jones has a $15.3 million base salary and the Patriots only would have to make a minor roster change to get the player.

There’s plenty of room for Jones in the starting offense. Belichick will use tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry as starters. The Patriots only have space for two starting wide receivers. NFL experts believe that Agholor will take one of these spots. Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne will fight for the other spot.

Where does this leave Jones?

Jones would definitely jump on top of the depth chart.

In 2020, the veteran missed seven games due to a hamstring injury. However, Jones was able to catch 51 passes for 771 yards and three touchdowns. He had 99 catches for 1,394 yards, and six touchdowns in 2019. In 2018, Jones led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,677.

The elite WR is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, two-time All-Pro, and definitely made the All-2010s team. Jones spent his NFL career with the Falcons. The team selected him sixth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

Will Belichick bring him to New England? He needs a veteran WR now that Julian Edelman is out.
