NBA Should Be Afraid if Lakers Sign Key Knicks Free Agent

The Los Angeles Lakers are focused on their championship run and the team doesn’t even think of making changes of the roster. General Manager Rob Pelinka will plan his free agency moves in a few weeks. The Lakers play against the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs and things look really tense right now. Anthony Davis is out due to an injury. Too many other players struggled with injuries in 2020 as well and the front office has to think about the future of the team. Mandela Namaste of Bleacher Report believes the Lakers may sign key free agent Frank Ntilikina. The New York Knicks guard may be an excellent fit for the Lakers.

The former No.8 overall pick is a great defender although he doesn’t play offense. Maybe the Lakers will help him unleash his potential.

“Perhaps Ntilikina just needs a team with multiple incumbent playmakers to take the pressure off and let him do what he does best,” Namaste wrote. “For instance, if the Bucks or Lakers come calling with a minimum-salary deal and the Knicks decline to match it, the rest of the NBA should be scared.”

The Lakers may sign a key free agent

Ntilikina will have to try really hard to turn into a dominant player. If he develops a 3-point shot, he will have an excellent career.

Pelinka will go through the open market to gather the right players for his team. How will he handle the upcoming free agency? Talen Horton-Tucker may be one of the most interesting players to enter the open market. He is 20 and he has shown excellent potential on the court.

NBA teams may offer him a lot of money and the Lakers will probably part ties with him. Namaste believes that the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls will do their best to get the young player. The Bulls need plenty of talent and Horton-Tucker was born in Chicago. This leads us all the way to Los Angeles. They will most likely try to get Horton-Tucker as well.

The Lakers need better shooters. They brought Wesley Matthews, Marc Gasol, and Dennis Schroder in the offseason. It didn’t help.
