Cam Newton’s IG Response to Quarterback Competition Rumors is Perfect

New England Patriots veteran quarterback Cam Newton delivered an interesting response to a quarterback competition. He struggled in 2020 but head coach Bill Belichick decided to give him another chance. The Patriots offered him a one-year deal and Newton was more than excited to accept it.

We have a really good reason to believe that Newton will take the starting role in 2021. Belichick trusts him enough to give him the leading role once again. Well, Newton will use this as a motivation. This may be his bounce-back season. How will the veteran handle the pressure in the upcoming season?

Newton’s failure in 2020 wasn’t really his fault. He lacked weapons and also got Covid-19. The quarterback didn’t have much time to prepare for the season. Truth is, Newton finished the season near the very bottom of the NFL in passing yards per game (177.1), passing touchdowns (eight) and passer rating (82.9). That’s not all. Newton also threw the fifth most-interceptions (10) of any quarterback in the league.

Belichick benched Newton on a few occasions. He was able to keep his job throughout the season though. We all know what that means.

Things changed a lot after the 2021 NFL Draft. The Patriots selected Mac Jones with the 15^th overall pick. The first-round selection may easily steal Newton’s job.

Newton is well aware of the fact that Jones will challenge his position. They will enter training camp a couple of weeks away. Newton spent time with Jakobi Meyers and Jonnu Smith.

The quarterback shared a lot of workout videos on his Instagram account.

Seeing Smith back on the field is really great. Belichick can’t have another injured player in the locker room.

Newton has all the motivation he needs to win games. He is ready to win games with the Patriots. Fighting for the top job? Why not!
