Patriots Star Has Telling Comment About Quarterback Mac Jones

The New England Patriots have four quarterback options on the roster and Mac Jones looks like the franchise quarterback. Jarrett Stidham had to undergo a surgery to fix his back. This leaves Bill Belichick with Cam Newton, Jones, and Brian Hoyer. The latter will mentor Jones. Newton and Jones will compete for the starting position. Of course, we all know that Newton will start games in September. Jones may step in as a replacement at one point of the regular season.

The Patriots have to wait until the regular season to see what happens in the quarterback unit. Head coach Bill Belichick made a lot of good decisions in the 2021 NFL Draft. He selected Jones in an effort to get the right signal-caller for the team.

Jones is doing an excellent job in the NFL Draft. He has attracted the attention of many fans and experts. Coaches and players like him too.

Offensive lineman Trent Brown has nothing but words of praise for the rookie. On Thursday afternoon, he talked to reporters about Jones’ incredible performance.

According to Brown, Jones has a chance to be “special.”

Brown has praised the rookie on so many occasions. The offensive lineman was well aware of the fact that Jones can be “special.” He talked about this weeks ago. Reporters asked him about Jones, and Brown gave a short and clear answer.

“Mac, he’s a young guy, but you can’t really just refer to him as a young guy,” Brown said this week, via Ryan Hannable of WEEI. “You can tell he’s been at a place where [he’s] got some coaching. I think he’s going to be special here in the future.”

Will Jones be able to get the big job in September? Not really. Maybe he will make a move later in the regular season.

Let’s see what happens next in training camp.
