Report: Patriots Work Out Former Eagles, Jaguars Cornerback

The New England Patriots are open to changes and this time they decided to work out Jaguars cornerback. Do they need a cornerback at the moment? Head coach Bill Belichick can always use fresh power on the field. His team is in the middle of a nice winning streak, and Belichick will do whatever it takes to keep his team on the right track.

Doug Kyed from Pro Football Focus reported that the Patriots hosted defensive back Jameson Houston for a workout on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old inked a deal with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted agent in 2020. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound cornerback made a few changes in his rookie campaign. He spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles, hitting 22 snaps on defense and 22 snaps on special teams in three games.

In May, the team traded Houston to the Jacksonville Jaguars. They also sent a 2023 sixth-round selection to get cornerback Josiah Scott. The wave of changes didn’t end here, and Houston was waved at the 80-man deadline in August. He saw action in just two preseason games and had just one tackle and one pass breakup.

Patriots work out Jaguars cornerback for a reason

The situation in New England is a bit messy. Belichick has three open spots on the practice unit. Rookie kicker Riley Patterson joined the Detroit Lions’ active roster, leaving a big void behind.

This may not be the only change Belichick is set to make at this point. It’s a long season and the Patriots have a long way to go before they finish the task. The team decided to trust a rookie and gave Mac Jones the keys to the offense. He is doing an excellent job and so are his teammates. Beating opponents was a piece of cake by now. Will things change in the next few weeks? I don’t think so. Staying healthy is a priority right now.

The Atlanta Falcons are next on the list and Patriots players will go against a good opponent. They have already beaten great teams so this one won’t be a problem.
