Lakers Bring Back Intriguing Prospect on 2-Way Deal

The Los Angeles Lakers have to use every bit of help they can find on the way. Injuries and COVID-19 plagued the team. General Manager Rob Pelinka had to make some changes and get that extra help. According to latest reports, the Lakers decided to bring back a prospect.

The situation seems to be a little complicated. Anthony Davis is still out and Frank Vogel is working without some of his key players. Sekou Doumbouya is joining the Lakers through a two-way deal as confirmed by the franchise.

Lakers bring back young prospect for a reason

Doumbouya is a former first-round pick for Detroit in 2019. He saw action in two games with the Lakers earlier this season. However, the Lakers decided to release him after the player sustained a foot injury.

The Lakers had to make enough room for Doumbouya so they waived rookie center Jay Huff.

Doumbouya has played in 96 career games. He is averaging 5.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.7 assists. In his debut with the Lakers, the player scored 10 points on 4-for-4 shooting. It was a 15-point loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. In the second game with the Lakers, the player posted four points and two rebounds, one steal and one block defensively. Doumbouya played eight minutes in both games with the team.

The Lakers have shown great interest in the 21-year-old. He will have to try really hard to earn their trust and get a better deal. Is this even possible? Getting Doumbouya seems to be a good decision for the Lakers.

LA will play in Sacramento Wednesday. The Denver Nuggets are next on their list. The team has lost too many games this season. Players sustained injuries and also missed game due to COVID. Frank Vogel missed significant time, too. David Fizdale stepped in as his replacement but the team lost five out of six games. Vogel is back, and Davis will come back soon. He may see a different role with the Lakers this time. Lakers players have to adjust their game to the situation on the NBA floor.
