Pro Bowl Offensive Lineman Reportedly has Eye-Catching Incentives

The New England Patriots gave Trent Brown a new deal for a reason. Well, the offensive lineman got a deal packed with incentives and now we know more details about it. Brown is getting a two-year deal worth $13 million with $4 million guaranteed.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported that Brown’s new deal has a $750,000 weight bonus in the next couple of seasons.

Brown is getting $150,000 on the first day of the offseason if he measures 385 pounds or less. If he drops to 375 pounds or less on the first day of June, he will get an additional $75,000. Losing another 20 pounds by July 15 will give him extra $75,000.

Oh, there’s more. Brown will earn an additional $25,000 every week if he maintains his weight at 365 or less.

Brown measures 6’8’’ and 380 pounds at the moment. He is really big and the Patriots want him to maintain a different weight.

The offensive lineman has more incentives related to his performance

When it comes to other incentives, Brown can get half a million if he takes part in 65% of offensive snaps. He will earn another half a million if he participates in 70% of the offensive snaps. The Patriots will give him an additional $750,000 if he participates in 75 percent, 80 percent, 85 percent, and 90 percent of the offensive snaps. If Brown makes 95% of all offensive snaps or makes the Pro Bowl, the Patriots will give him another half a million.

The Patriots big man is prone to injuries and this may be the only concern about his performance. Brown is entering his ninth season in the NFL, but he missed a lot of games in the last few years. In eight NFL seasons he has seen action in just 72 games.

In 2016, he saw action in all 16 games with the San Francisco 49ers. His luck ended here and in the second year of his career, he played in only 10 games due to a shoulder injury. In 2019, Brown ended up on injured reserve list right after being selected to his first Pro Bowl. Finally, in 2021, Brown sustained a calf injury in the very first week of the regular season.
