Patriots Legend Celebrates Birthday

New England Patriots legend John Hannah celebrated his 72th birthday on April 4. The Patriots celebrated his big day, reminding the world of his greatness back in the days. Hannah was one of the best offensive linemen in league history and earned his spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991. He was actually the first member of the Patriots Hall of Fame.

Hannah was the son of legendary Herb Hannah and let’s just say got the good genes from his dad. He was brilliant at Alabama from 1970 to 1972 and helped the team win the SEC. Hannah was also an All-American twice and was named to Alabama’s 1970s All-Decade team and the All-Century team. Impressive, right?

Hannah turned them into a dominant power and the Patriots made the playoffs in 1976. Coaches praised his speed, work, and duration. His health was perfect and Hannah spent 13 seasons with the Patriots. Hannah earned 7 First-Team All-Pro selections, 3 Second-Team All-Pro nods, and 9 Pro-Bowl selections.

Hannah played his final season in 1985. The Patriots made the first Super Bowl, but lost the game to the Chicago Bears. His performance was brilliant and he earned his first First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.

The NFL world remembers him as the spectacular player who made changes in the organization. Offensive linemen follow his example and Hannah is a role model to younger generations. Hannah earned great respect and fans have nothing but great words for his impact on the world of football.
