Patriots FA Target Dalvin Cook Receives Offer From NFC Team

The New England Patriots showed great interest in Dalvin Cook, but head coach Bill Belichick faces serious competition in the pursuit of the talented running back.

Boomer Esiason from CBS Sports reported that the Minnesota Vikings are actually interested in re-signing the free agent. They let him go June 10 and now want to give him $7 million a year.

“Dalvin Cook has a $7 million a year contract from the Minnesota Vikings right now,” Esiason said during WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio” show on Monday, July 10. “I don’t want to put words into his mouth, but he hasn’t accepted it. I don’t think he really wants to go back there.”

Cook would love to join the Patriots. They target DeAndre Hopkins and this could increase the likelihood of getting Cook. Let’s not forget that the running back wants to join forces with the star wide receiver.

Patriots will have to beat their competition in order to get Dalvin Cook

Several NFL teams have shown interest in Cook. Cameron Wolfe from NFL Network reported that Cook has been receiving orders from other teams, but he didn’t really mention the Patriots.

If the Patriots do not get Cook, they may be forced to play against him twice a year. Esiason mentioned a few potential suitors for Cook.

The Miami Dolphins did an effort to sign Cook, but he turned down their offer. The Jets want him, too, but it is not a cut deal for the team. They would offer him $5 million per year.

The Vikings offered Cook a $63 million, giving him $14 million each season. As you may be guessing, he wants a good contract. He finished sixth in rushing in 2022 and yes, he deserves a good deal.

“I think that he really wants to play for the Miami Dolphins, and I believe that [agent] Drew Rosenhaus is trying to play the Dolphins off the [New York] Jets like they did with Tyreek Hill to a certain extent,” Esiason said. “Tyreek Hill was never coming to the Jets.”
