Lakers Austin Reaves Predicts Big Change From Anthony Davis

The Los Angeles Lakers are entering another challenging season and NBA analysts have high expectations from the team. Players gathered for a minicamp recently and it seems like Anthony Davis stole the show. Lakers young talent Austin Reaves discussed the changes Davis made over the offseason and also mentioned his dominance.

“AD’s shooting the ball really well right now,” Reaves said on “The Lowe Post” podcast on September 25. “It’s something that I’ve tried to get him to do more is shoot. Because if he does that you know at a very decent level – which he can because, in the bubble year, he shot it really well – literally you can’t guard him.”

Reaves knows Davis is all-in when it comes to helping the Lakers win

The Lakers got a really good performance from Davis over the last few seasons. He helped them win a title in the bubble and managed to lead the team to a win in LeBron James’ absence. However, the big man missed time due to injuries and his health condition was probably the biggest concern for the team in the last few seasons. Well, AD feels better than ever and he is ready to shoot.

“I think that he’ll shoot the ball a lot better this year, and I think he’ll take have more attempts,” Reaves said. “AD’s not a selfish guy at all. He wants to win. So those nights where he scored mid-teens … it’s not like he’s going to the bench bickering about touches and stuff like that just because someone else is having success. He don’t care about that. He just wants to win.”

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic praised Davis’ performance last postseason. Reaves couldn’t agree more. According to him, AD is one of the best defensive player he has ever shared the floor with.

“He’s the best defensive player I’ve ever played with,” Reaves said. “Just knowing that he’s back there, in the playoffs especially, you can be so much more aggressive. And even if he don’t block shots, he’s gonna alter the shot.”

The Lakers front office made some changes in the offseason while keeping the core intact. Let’s see how things go next season.
