Report: Lakers Blamed by Los Angeles Officials For New COVID-19 Spike

The Los Angeles Lakers are being blame by Los Angeles officials for a new COVID-19 spike. The Lakers are coming off of a huge NBA title victory in the past month. It was very impressive to see them get back on track after a huge Playoff showing. It was really cool to see the tandem of Anthony Davis and LeBron James bring a title to the Lakers.

But it wasn’t all easy. LeBron talked about how hard it was to stay focused on the Playoffs given the COVID situation. Take a look at what he said recently.

“I am here for one reason and one reason only, and that’s to compete for a championship,” James said. “That was my mindset once I entered the bubble, once I entered the quarantine process the first two days. And then right from my first practice my mindset was to, if I’m going to be here, make the most of it and see what you can do and lock in on what the main thing is. And the main thing was for us to finish the season and compete for a championship.”

“So that’s just been my mindset throughout these — I don’t even know how many days it is, whatever how many days it is, it feels like five years so it really doesn’t matter. I’ve been as locked in as I’ve ever been in my career.”

But now the Los Angeles city is blaming the Lakers for a recent COVID spike. They were talking about this recently though.

“It is impossible to determine the exact exposures that contributed to this increase,’’ the department said in a statement recently. “It is highly likely that gatherings to watch and/or celebrate the Lakers, along with any other gatherings that occurred 2-3 weeks ago where people weren’t wearing face coverings and were in close contact with each other, contributed to the rise in LA County cases.’’

Well, that pretty much says it all. This could very well be true. There were thousands of people joining to watch the Lakers take down their opponents in the NBA playoffs.

What do you think about this?
