Lakers Head Coach Opens Up About Christian Wood: ‘I Know The Kid’

Christian Wood signed a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and he is set to earn $5.7 million. The Lakers may have taken a huge risk with this one, but head coach Darvin Ham likes his new player. He doesn’t mind his bad reputation and is ready to get the best of his performance.

“I don’t know what happened in Dallas and that’s not my business,” Ham said on October 13. “I don’t know. People say s—. ‘He’s lazy. He doesn’t play any defense.’ I know the kid. I know what he’s going to do for me and he’s done everything that I expected him to do up to this point since camp has been going on.”

Wood did his homework in the preseason and averaged 7.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. The talented player has made a few stops in the NBA and the Dallas Mavericks were the last to cut ties with him.

Ham has great plans for Wood and he doesn’t pay much attention to outside noise. He also wants to see the skills he brings to the basketball court.

“I don’t judge my relationship based off other people’s opinion of certain individuals,” Ham added. “I deal with you directly and I have my own relationship with him and I know what he’s capable of and what he’ll do for me.”

Wood is ready to win with the Lakers

Dallas released Wood and gave him a chance to live his dream. He signed with a strong franchise and it doesn’t get better than this.

“Winning, that is my next thing,” Wood said. “I’ve already proved that I’m an NBA player. I’m a rotation player and I could play in these games. My next step is trying to win as many games as possible. Trying to affect the game in a winning way. I haven’t been to the playoffs yet.”

The Lakers showed great performance in the preseason, sending a big warning to the rest of the NBA. They are here to win!
