Lakers Make Key Roster Decision Ahead Of 2023-24 NBA Season

The Los Angeles Lakers made the final arrangements for the 2023-24 NBA season and have already made one roster decision. According to sources, the Lakers offered forward Louis King a deal and his agent George Langberg confirmed the signing.

King is coming off a season with the Philadelphia 76ers. He played one game and delivered 20 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal. The forward also played in the G League and averaged 16.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while going 46.5 % from the field and 39.5% from the three-point range in 32 regular-season games. King also played in 18 Showcase Cup games and three G League playoff games.

The talented player entered the open market in the summer and his agent confirmed his signing with the purple and gold. King went undrafted out of Oregon in 2019 and made a few stops in his four seasons in the NBA. He played with the Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, and Philadelphia 76ers.

In 27 games, King averaged 4.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per game while going 41.7% from the field and 35.1% from the three-point line.

In the G league, the newly-signed Laker averaged 15.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while going 44.6% from the field and 37.1% from the three-point line in 66 regular-season games.

Lakers expected to make another roster decision

The Lakers have one roster spot left and may decide to leave it open like most NBA teams. King’s agent didn’t really share any details of the contract his client signed and we don’t know if King is the last player to join the purple and gold for the empty roster spot.

His experience can definitely help the Lakers and we can only guess the next step of the Lakers front office.

The team looks good now and Darvin Ham predicts a big season for his team led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
