Patriots Could Fill Empty Spot With Recently Cut $70 Million Pass Rusher

The New England Patriots started the new season with three losses. It is a bad start of another challenging season, but head coach Bill Belichick doesn’t even think of giving up. They face big challenges and the NFL is not doing them a favor either. Belichick and his players will have to play against tough opponents. It looks bad, but the Patriots can save their season by adding a pass rusher.

The Patriots lost Christian Gonzales and Matthew Judon to an injury. They fixed the damage by adding J.C. Jackson. Bringing a familiar name back in the fold seems like a good decision. Losing Gonzales was a big blow for the team and Jackson joins the squad at the right time.

Enter Judon. The Patriots star was expected to have a really big season, but he may miss the rest of it. Judon suffered a biceps tear and had to undergo a surgery. He will miss two months or more.

Patriots face big challenge in their quest for the pass rusher

New England may have its eyes set on another player. Veteran pass rusher Randy Gregory is out of the Broncos, meaning the Patriots could get him right away. ESPN reported that the Broncos tried to find a trade partner for Gregory, but ended up waiving him.

Getting Gregory won’t be that easy. He is out of the Broncos, but will probably try to sign a deal with a contender. Some experts don’t really agree that the Patriots are on the top of the contending game.

Belichick will have to find a replacement for Judon as well. He may first try to use some of the players on the current roster. Keion White may be a rookie, but he can definitely show great performance on the field. Josh Uche could elevate his performance as well. Anfernee Jennings has showed that he is capable of doing great things.

There’s another catch in the whole situation. Gregory is set to earn $14 million guaranteed this season. NFL teams aren’t really happy to spend a lot of money on a veteran who got replaced by a second-year player.
