3-Team Blockbuster Trade Proposal Sends No. 1 Quarterback To Patriots

The New England Patriots cut ties with Bill Belichick and it’s more than clear that they are gearing up for major changes in the offseason. They have a shaky quarterback situation and analysts have dropped a wild trade scenario. According to recent sources, the Patriots could become part of a three-team blockbuster trade in order to acquire a top quarterback option.

The Patriots have a chance to snatch the No.1 pick of the 2024 NFL Draft and sign USC QB Caleb Williams. This scenario could follow the same pattern Patriots had in 1993 in the Drew Bledsoe signing.

K.D. Drummond from USA Today’s Cowboys Wire discussed this scenario, suggesting that the Patriots may have to call the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.

Patriots could benefit from the blockbuster trade and get a talented quarterback

According to this scenario, the Patriots will trade the No.3 pick, N.68 pick, the 2025 first-rounder, and 2025 fourth-rounder to get the Bears’ No.1 player. The Bears would trade the Patriots 2025 first-rounder, the No.9 pick, and a 2025 third-rounder to Dallas for Dak Prescott. The Cowboys would get Bears’ Justin Fields and LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels using the No.9 pick.

Williams could have great connection with the Patriots and their new head coach. Belichick didn’t have great performance with Mac Jones and backup quarterbacks. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner was able to throw for 10,082 yards and 93 touchdowns to go along with 14 interceptions and 966 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns in three college seasons.

Mike Giardi from the Boston Sports Journal likes the idea of seeing Williams in New England.

“You look at the playoffs right now, I know [Brock] Purdy is the guy who doesn’t fit the mold but everybody else, they’re first-round picks,” Giardi said on “Arbella Early Edition” on Tuesday.

“These are guys that you built your team around, they’re franchise guys, I think you need that. You just went through the process for the guy we thought was pretty good and it turned out the last two years he wasn’t good at all. You don’t wait.”

The Patriots may lose a lot, but they are gaining a great quarterback in this trade scenario.

“The cost is gonna be high, but at least you’re at three,” Giardi said. “If you’re going to two, it’s probably not going to cost as much. If you’re going to one, it’s probably not going to cost as much. But if I believe that Caleb Williams is light years ahead of Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye, I make the phone call.”
