Lakers Break Silence On Great Kobe Bryant Statue Errors

The celebratory unveiling for the Kobe Bryant statue was a great deal a few weeks ago. Every NBA fan talked about the brilliant masterpiece. Well, now we have fans talking that the Kobe statue set up outside of Crypto.com Arena has multiple spelling errors. Some errors are more obvious than others.

The 19-feet statue is made out of bronze. The creator was inspired by the pose Kobe made after hitting 81 points in the great game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006. The statue also has the official scorer’s report written on the side.

The list misspelled the names of former Raptors guard José Calderón, and it reads “Jose Calderson.” Former Lakers player Vakeaton Quamar Von Wafer was listed as “Vom Wafer.”

Here’s a more obvious mistake. The word “decision” was written as “decicion.”

One Lakers fan said that no fan would ever expect to see these errors on the statue. It’s a statue of one of the greatest basketball player of all time after all. It’s an important piece and these errors are not acceptable in any aspect.

Fans initially thought that the scorecard on the day had multiple errors that caused the misspellings on the great statue. It turns out the scorecard had zero errors.

Goldin Auctions auctioned off the scorer’s report the Black Mamba signed, and no, it does not have any misspellings.

Lakers work to correct mistakes on Kobe statue

Kobe was a perfectionist and this mistake has to be fixed as soon as possible. He wouldn’t want to see those errors on his statue.

The Lakers issued a statement on the matter. According to their statement, they will have this corrected.

“We have been aware of this for a few weeks and are already working to get it corrected soon,” the team noted in a statement.

This will not be the only statue in honor of the Bryant family. The second statue will be released in honor of his daughter, Gianna, too. There will be a third piece, but we do not have much details on the masterpiece.
