Scott Zolak Gives Patriots Tip For Third Overall Draft Pick

The New England Patriots have a few big holes to fill. They need quarterbacks, receivers, tackles, and cornerbacks. Head coach Jerod Mayo needs a strong quarterback option to step in as a replacement for Mac Jones. The Patriots didn’t finish the 2023 NFL season with success and now they have the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Will they use the highest pick to get one of the top quarterback prospects? Scott Zolak believes that the Patriots shouldn’t go after a quarterback in the first round if they don’t like their options.

The Patriots traded Jones and they have yet to find their quarterback of the future. Mayo can get the best quarterback prospect in the draft. The team hasn’t had a high pick in over thirty years. Most analysts believe that the team needs to use it to get a signal-caller. Well, Zolak has a big advice for the Patriots. The former Patriots quarterback wouldn’t risk it all to get a quarterback.

“If they aren’t in love at three with the QB and not going to play him, I say trade,” Zolak recently said, per The Boston Globe. “Especially with still not having a No. 1 wide receiver or a starting left tackle through free agency.”

Patriots have to play smart with their third overall pick

Sources reveal that the Patriots won’t try to trade down. They may not swap picks in order to get a player they like. De facto general manager Eliot Wolf has a plan for the upcoming draft. The first round of the upcoming draft will bring a lot of new players in New England.

Drake Maye is the top quarterback behind Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels. If the Patriots don’t like any of these picks, they should definitely consider Zolak’s suggestion.

The Patriots are entering one of the most important seasons in team history. They look different and Bill Belichick is no longer around. How will the new-look Patriots team handle the pressure?
