Wideout Who Reportedly Will Visit Patriots Viewed As NFL Draft Target

The New England Patriots will enter the 2024 NFL Draft with a few great ideas on the table. The team needs quarterbacks, wideouts, offensive tackles, cornerbacks, etc. They need to add depth to pretty much every unit and Patriots scouts target a strong wideout in the 2024 Draft class.

The team has shown great interest in multiple players and they are already meeting players. Draft analyst Tony Pauline reported that Javon Baker is set to have a pre-draft visit with the team. Aaron Wilson from KPRC2 issued a similar report over the weekend.

The Patriots are not the only team to meet Baker. He will also visit the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs. NFL analysts don’t consider him to be a first-round option. The Patriots have yet to make a decision on their third overall pick and they have several options to work with at the moment. They can get Baker in the second round of the draft.

Patriots could target the wideout later in the draft

New England has the No.68 overall pick. Baker would be one of the better prospects in the third round and the Patriots can get him at this point of the draft. Will he be available in the third round?

Pro Football Focus ranks Baker as seventeenth option in his class. He is predicted to be a No.76 overall prospect. According to ESPN, he is the No.78 prospect and the 14th wideout in his group.

Keagan Stiefel from NESN.com reported that Patriots de facto general manager Eliot Wolf prefers players like Baker. He had great size and strength and can give the Patriots an outside threat.

In 2023, Baker had 1,139 yards on 52 catches and seven touchdowns in 13 games.

The Patriots will need to address their greatest needs in the draft. Some believe that they will trade down the draft and get their players later in the first round. Jerod Mayo dropped some hints about the team’s draft plans and didn’t shut down any option.
