Patriots Insider Makes Bold Prediction After Schedule Release

The New England Patriots are getting ready for the 2024 NFL season and Jerod Mayo has already received the first schedule in his career as head coach. Patriots players will enter the new season with a road game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept 8. The first home game is Sept.15.

Mayo made a great number of changes, but kept some of the veterans around. Former Patriots players joined the Patriots organization as coaches and other personnel.

The NFL released the schedule Wednesday. New England won’t have the worst schedule in team history, but this one sure comes with great challenges. Mayo will be coaching against teams that made the playoffs in 2023 almost half of the season. Patriots won’t really have a break until Week 14. It won’t be easy, but players are ready for the challenge.

Patriots have to go through another challenging schedule

NFL analysts discussed the current situation in New England and Mayo’s readiness to take the team to the playoffs this time. This will be his first season as a Patriots head coach and Mike Reiss from ESPN has high expectations. Reiss believes that Mayo will have great success in 2024. The Patriots have to set up a strong foundation early in the season, meaning they should win more games in the first half of the season.

“Mayo will earn his first victory in Week 2 at home against the Seahawks, who are also under the direction of a new head coach in Mike Macdonald,” Reiss detailed in a column published Wednesday night. “Seattle used to struggle with 10 am PT kickoffs but has reversed that trend in recent years. If the Patriots don’t win that game, it could be several weeks before they secure their first victory based on the strength of opponents through the first six weeks.”

It will be one of the most challenging seasons in team history and Mayo has big shoes to fill in. Let’s just say he is trying to do things his way.
