Patriots Blockbuster Proposed Trade Lands WR CeeDee Lamb

Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was a no-show at Dallas Cowboys mandatory minicamp and there’s a growing speculation about his trade from the team. The New England Patriots haven’t found their star wide receiver yet, and pulling out a trade move for Lamb makes perfect sense at the moment.

Brad Gagnon from Bleacher Report discussed Lamb’s current situation with the Cowboys and the Patriots’ determination to get a star WR. They made a few bold moves in the offseason and even used their top pick to get a quarterback. Drake Maye has zero experience in the NFL and throwing passes to a star WR would make things easier for him.

Patriots could grab the opportunity and trade for Lamb

According to Gagnon, the Patriots should send rookie WR Ja’Lynn Polk and a first-round pick to Dallas and get Lamb. The team can afford the star wide receiver, so there won’t be any issue in this trade scenario.

“The Patriots just used a high second-round pick on Polk, who scored nine touchdowns last season at Washington,” Gagnon wrote on June 6. “But if they see an opportunity to upgrade massively in support of rookie Drake Maye, a quick flip could be in the cards.”

“Of course, they’d have to throw in a first-round pick because elite receivers are such hot commodities right now. Tyreek Hill commanded a first, a second, two fourths and a sixth pick before also getting his bag from the Dolphins two years ago. This shouldn’t be far off of that. This deal would allow Dallas [to] raise a bunch of salary-cap space and draft capital while still landing a high-ceiling receiver, with the bonus of Lamb leaving the conference and joining a non-contender.”

The Patriots embraced a different scheme this time. They have a new coaching staff and a lot of former players joined Jerod Mayo’s group of assistants. It’s a challenging season for every member of the Patriots organization, including rookie Maye.
