LeBron James always brings his competitive spirit and intensity with him – regardless of whether he’s in the midst of a crucial NBA Finals matchup or coaching his son’s junior high, blue chips basketball game.
It’s evident in the following clip provided by Hoop Journey that Bron couldn’t suppress his passionate temperament. The King got a little heated when his son, Bronny Jr., got called for a foul late in a tight game.
Bron was jawing a little bit on the sideline, which the referee noticed and thought the criticism was toward him. James, however, made it clear that he wasn’t talking to the man in stripes, but didn’t like the fact that he was checked in the first place.
For what could be read off the lips, it looked like James mentioned the word “respect,” though it’s not clear what the whole conversation was about.
Eventually, everything ended up alright and James carried on, but it doesn’t seem like he’ll be making any amends with that official anytime soon.
After all, in there he is just another proud father, watching his son play. LeBron is there to coach and cheer, pushing Bronny toward greatness the way he wishes someone had been there to push him.
“When I was younger, I didn’t have a dad,” James said in a preview for his upcoming HBO show The Shop. “So my whole thing was, when I have a kid, not only is he gonna be a junior, I’m gonna do everything that this man didn’t do.”
