Josh Gordon Receives Number With The Patriots

Josh Gordon is officially a member of the New England Patriots team, and he was given a new number.

Gordon had No. 12 with the Cleveland Browns. However, that number was unavailable in the Patriots team. Yes, it’s Tom Brady’s number. So, Gordon needed a new number, and he finally got it. Head coach Bill Belichick didn’t want to talk about the Gordon trade, but Josh Gordon was heading straight to Foxboro. Josh Gordon was spotted at the team’s practice as the Patriots were getting ready to take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Gordon was donning No. 10. This number was given to Corey Coleman, but he was released by the New England Patriots. Jimmy Garoppolo had it, too.

The wide out was acquired in a trade deal with the Cleveland Browns on Monday. The Patriots were also receiving a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick from the Cleveland Browns, but this is no longer a condition. The player will be squarely sent to Foxboro.

Gordon arrives to Foxboro along with his great talent. He was considered a troubled player, especially because he was constantly violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Gordon also received a year long suspension.

However, nothing beats the fact that Gordon is one of the most talented receivers in the league. He posted 180 career catches for 3,106 yards and 16 touchdowns in 41 games.

“I think that it’s obviously known that he’s a freakish athlete,” wide out Phillip Dorsett said.

“We’ll see how it goes this week. Hopefully he can work hard, put the team first and end up helping us in any role he can find for himself on the team,| Tom Brady said during his appearance on Westwood One’s Monday Night Football broadcast.

Gordon will make his Patriots debut in Week 3 against the Lions. He will have a limited role due to the hamstring injury he suffered recently.
