Josh McDaniels Gives Update On Josh Gordon’ Progress

Josh McDaniels was super excited about the addition of Josh Gordon.

The New England Patriots acquired Gordon through a trade deal with the Cleveland Browns. The pass catcher was limited in practice, and wasn’t included in the team’s Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions. However, Josh McDaniels gave an update on Gordon’s progress during his conference call with reporters.

“I think he’s learning. You know, look, it’s not easy to come in in the middle of the week and try to pick everything up immediately, guys coming from different systems. But, he’s doing a really good job of working hard at that and trying to get himself caught up so that he knows what to do when he’s out there and can do it at a dependable level,” McDaniels said.

“I think he’s really doing a good job of that, and then we’ll see as he progresses this week, if he gets any closer to being able to be active. I don’t know exactly how close or – you know, it’s hard to put percentages on that. Coach [Bill Belichick] makes those decisions. We’re going to prepare everybody to play and then whatever the active situation is on a week-to-week basis, then that’s what we have and we try to do the best thing that we can with him,” he added.

The question of the team’s offense is still open, and that’s a major concern of every trade deal. The Patriots have released and acquired numerous receivers, and each of them had to face the complex nature of the team’s offense. Quarterback Tom Brady said that the team’s offense is on a graduate level unlike the rest of the teams in the league. That’s why some of the receivers couldn’t get along with Brady and the team. However, everything points to the fact that Gordon will do a good job.
