Report: Patriots Work Out Former Colts Pass Rusher

The New England Patriots are trying to fix the damage of their last loss. This time they worked out former Colts pass rusher.

“The Patriots today worked out pass-rusher Ryan Delaire, who was in camp with the Colts, source said,” Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said. The Patriots brought quarterback Landry Jones, wide out Dontrelle Iman and corner David Amerson for workouts on Monday. Now they worked out former Colts pass rusher Ryan Delaire. Who is next on the list?

The trio is considered an emergency option for the active roster. Delaire is more like a possible addition to the Patriots practice squad. The pass rusher was undrafted out of Townson in 2015 and played with the Buccaneers, Redskins, Panthers and Colts.

Delire spent most of his preseason with the Colts, but was released during the final roster trimming. His most successful times came during his game with the Carolina Panthers. Delaire was active in 15 games during his career. He was able to total 3.5 sacks and 13 tackles.

If the New England Patriots decided to bring in the pass rusher, that would be some sort of a homecoming for the defensive end, because he is from New England hailing from Connecticut. Delaire went to Umass for two of his collegiate seasons, and was later transferred to Towson where he was able to total 68 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three pass break ups, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

If the Patriots add him, Delaire will join the practice squad consisted of cornerback Jomal Wiltz, defensive lineman Trent Harris, defensive tackle Vincent Valentine, offensive lineman James Ferentz, offensive tackle Eric Smith, quarterback Danny Etling, running back Ralph Webb, tight end Stephen Anderson and wide outs Jace Billingsley and Corey Coleman.

Will Bill Belichick accept his style and talent?
