Report: Patriots To Discipline Josh Gordon Vs. Bills

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick decided to teach Josh Gordon a lesson, and it is somewhat serious.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network confirmed that the Patriots will discipline Josh Gordon during the game with the Buffalo Bills on Mondy Night Football. Rapoport will be kept off the field for several series or even the first quarter. He will proceed with his game as usual after the “punishment.”

This discipline thing came due to tardiness. Josh Gordon did not have any problems with his teammates after his trading. He played really well with Tom Brady and the the Patriots offense, and was given added playing time.

Gordon played 25-percent of the offensive snaps in Week 4 and Week 5, and was given a heavier task playing in 80.8 percent of the snaps in the contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also played 95.3 percent of the snaps in Week 7.

Gordon caught 13 of his 22 targets for 224 yards and a touchdown. He even gained Brady’s trust.

“I just think it’s so impressive, in my view, what he’s done in a short period of time and how he’s assumed this specific role in our offense. Last week – I don’t know how much participation it was – but it was a lot. That’s a very challenging thing to do. The receiver position in our offense takes years for most guys to understand and learn nuances and intricacies of not only our plays, but how to get open within the scheme, how to gain my trust, and he’s done it in such a short period of time. I don’t think we’re where we necessarily can be in the future if we just keep working hard at it. For him to play the role that he’s played is a credit to him, what he’s been doing and what his routine here has been. I know he’s got a lot of great support and everyone wants to see him do as well as he possibly can,” Brady said of Gordon.
