Patriots Brought Incredible Holiday Cheer To Patients at Boston Children’s Hospital

Jonathan Jones, Joe Thuney, Eric Smith, Cody Hollister, two Patriots cheerleaders, the Boston Pops and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus did a good thing to patients and their family members at Boston Children’s Hospital. Some of the patients wore red, white and green holiday-inspired pajamas. There were also reindeer antlers and Santa hats.

Keith Lockhart led the Boston Pops and put a performance for patients at Boston Children’s Hospital. This is actually a tradition, and the Patriots Foundation joined the event. This concert is an opportunity for those who cannot attend the Boston Symphony Orchestra a chance to hear it.

Patients who were not able to make it to the Patient Entertainment Center had the concert broadcasted to their room.

“It’s nice to be able to come in here, sing a little bit of music, interact with the kids and put some smiles on some faces and I think everyone had a good time,” Joe said.

Joe red one of the famous, “A Visit from St. Nicholas” or as you know it “The Night Before Christmas.” Instrumentalists from the Boston Pops spiced up the poem.

“It was good. It was hard to keep up with the tempo of the orchestra, but it was a lot of fun. It went pretty well,” Joe said.

“It’s the holiday season. It’s New England. It’s cold and dreary outside. So it’s the least we can do to bring some smiles to people’s faces and just try to cheer people up. It’s been going great so far.”

The Boston Pops kicked the concert off with a few nice pieces, including “Hark the Herald,” “Jingle Bells,” “Somewhere in My Memory” and a few other holiday classics.

The Patriots also led everyone in singing “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.”

“It’s perfect. You look out into the crowd and you see the kids smiling and singing along and just to bring that joy to their face, to go up there and sing, anything that brings joy their face,” Jonathan said.
