Watch: Rex Burkhead Scores Amazing Touchdown That Leads Patriots To Super Bowl Finale

The New England Patriots made Super Bowl LIII thanks to Rex Burkhead.

The Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs entered overtime, but Tom Brady and his teammates got out of it as winners. The team secured their big victory converting from inside the five-yard line. Rex Burkhead did it.

However, he did it with the help of Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Rex Burkhead brings New England to the third Super Bowl in three seasons

This is the Patriots’ fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years. The first happened in 2014, and they confronted the Seattle Seahawks. The Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, and they lost the Super Bowl finale to the Eagles last February.

This Super Bowl will be the first time that the teams face one another since Super Bowl XXXVI. This changed a lot in Los Angeles, but Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are still here.

Belichick had words of praise for Burkhead since his return to the field, and it seems like he was right about him.

“Yeah, Rex has worked really hard, as he always does. So, we talked about it when I made the move and I talked to him about it. We had a lengthy discussion. I think we both had an understanding of what the situation was, what needed to be done and how to do it,” Belichick said of Burkhead earlier in the season.

“He’s been very diligent and consistent with his approach to it, and I’d say as we got closer to the opportunity to bring him back to being eligible to practice and then ultimately being eligible to play, he consistently met or exceeded kind of targets or things that he needed to show or do or be able to do to move forward. So, yeah, he’s done a great job and look forward to having him back.”
