Jason McCourty Gives Official Decision About His Future With Patriots And NFL

The McCourty twins were part of the winning squad in 2018, and Devin McCourty was flirting with the idea of retiring after the Super Bowl. He did a lot of thinking, and brought a decision. His brother, Jason, never mentioned the word ‘retirement’ in his recent interviews, but was constantly involved in similar stories. Jason McCourty decided to speak up, and the Patriots nation will sure like to hear what he has to say.

“(Devin) got me intertwined,” Jason McCourty told NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran. “I’m over here answering retirement questions and I never said anything about retirement.”

Jason had a huge role in the Patriots’ success in 2018. He offered stability and leadership from every position he took in the secondary. According to him, retiring is the last thing that comes to his mind at this moment. This McCourty twin is sure coming back for more.

“First and foremost, if I could be back in New England and all of that works out, that would be awesome,“ he said. “That way it wouldn’t be the third consecutive year I had to move my family. That would be an advantage. But at the same time you realize how much of this is a business and how much of this isn’t dictated by (the feeling), ‘Hey, I just want to play here with my brother and the guys I built a relationship with.’ There’s so much more that goes into it.”

March is a month of decisions for Jason McCourty

“For me, (the approach will be) letting it play out. When March rolls around we’ll see where everything’s at and then at the end of the day we’ll see where the opportunities are and then make a decision.”

Jason becomes unrestricted free agent at the beginning of the new season. Is there any possibility that he signs with another team?
