Watch: Edelman Fire Up Bruins Fans As Game 7 Banner Captain

The Boston Bruins’ season was related to the final score of Tuesday night’s game, and they had to use the help of a winner. Julian Edelman.

The first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series were locked up at three game apiece. The Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs were set to meet at TD Garden for a Game 7 for the third time in the last seven years. The Bruins respected their tradition to bring fan banner captains to fuel the fire at TD Garden. In Games 1 and 2 they brought Johnny Bucyk and Rob Gronkowski. In Game 5, they brought Marc Savard. When it comes to Game 7, they decided to bring Julian Edelman. The crowd got what they wanted, and fans were more than happy to see the Super Bowl MVP.

Were the Bruins trying to bring somebody with a championship background that knows how to get fans jumping? Of course they were. Julian Edelman was the right choice.

Edelman was honored in multiple occasions. He was even part of Daytona 500.

“Julian Edelman is an incredible addition to the list of pre-race dignitaries for the Daytona 500,” said Daytona International Speedway President Chip Wile in a press release. “We’re honored to have such a superb athlete, who recently won on NFL’s biggest stage and was the Super Bowl MVP, wave the green flag for NASCAR’s premier event.”

When if comes to the Patriots receiver, he was more than happy to take part in the event.

“I think these guys are absolutely insane,” said Edelman of NASCAR drivers. “First and foremost, they’re going 200 miles an hour around for three hours straight and able to focus in extreme conditions … The mental toughness and physical toughness to be able to go and perform for so long and stay in-tuned and any kind of mistake, ultimately, could be a big mistake that you don’t want to go down, which is very comparable to our sport. It’s a respect level for these guys who are clearly adrenaline junkies, just like we are. I always tell everyone: Football players, we’re missing screws. And these dudes certainly are too.”
