Chris Broussard Explains How Kyrie Irving Is Following In LeBron’s Footsteps

Kyrie Irving requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017 because he wanted to be a leader on his own team. Irving joined the Boston Celtics, and this is his second season with the team. According to Chris Broussard, Irving’s moves look like the ones LeBron made throughout his career.

Broussard is convinced that Irving acted like LeBron on several different occasions this year, especially in his leadership tactics. He talked on FS1’s “Undisputed” about the similarities, and didn’t miss the chance to say that Irving is following LeBron’s footsteps.

“Kyrie really is following in LeBron James’ footsteps. During the regular season, there was drama — a lot of it created by him. Come postseason, flip a switch, everything is good and now they’re rolling. He really seems to be following in LeBron’s footsteps,” he said.

The Celtics defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals series Sunday. The team had a shaky campaign, and they entered the playoffs as the East’s No. 4 seed. Irving tried really hard, and he actually succeeded in turning his team into a NBA Finals contender.

“I would love to see KD and Kyrie go to New York. But Kyrie is in a phenomenal situation. You got a great organization, a great supporting cast, great coach, he’s a superstar. And they’ll probably get Anthony Davis if he stays.”

When it comes to the relationship between LeBron and Irving, the Celtics star was among the first who supported LeBron after the Los Angeles Lakers were kicked out of the playoff run.

“I feel for him,” Irving said after Boston’s win at Staples Center. “Obviously just missing a lot of time, as well as Brandon Ingram. But Bron as always been a championship contender. An he’s such a great player, such a great teammate. When you’re not eligible to qualify for the playoffs, it’s hard, I can only imagine. Like I said, I feel for him. I feel for him. I really do. I feel for him. I’m very empathetic towards it because how much he wanted to play during that time when he messed up his groin.”
