Chiefs Fan Cited For Allegedly Pointing Laser At Tom Brady During AFC Championship

The laser incident raised so many questions after the AFC championship game in Kansas City in January. According to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office, a Missouri man is cited for allegedly pointing the laser at New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady during the game.

Dwyan Morgan, 64, of Lee’s Summit, is facing one count of disturbing the peace, Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker wrote in his statement released Tuesday. Morgan may get up to a year in jail or $1,000 fine, as confirmed by the press release from the prosecutor’s office.

Authorities say that Morgan pointed the laser at Brady at Arrowhead Stadium in January. The Patriots scored 37 points, and earned a ticket for the Super Bowl.

This goes against the initial comments released by the Chiefs.

“There’s a lot of pride in Kansas City, and we and our fans thought, ‘You don’t do that here,’” a Chiefs official said.

When it comes to Patriots owner Robert Kraft, his statement was loud and clear.

“It does not happen when you come to Foxboro,” Kraft said. “I just hear the word ‘laser’ and I think of Tommy and his eyes. And that last drive, we had three third-down-and-10s, and he was laser focused. So, whatever it was, I think it was a positive influence.”

However, the laser wasn’t enough to stop Brady.

“The odds were stacked against us,” he said after game. “It hasn’t been that way for us in a while, and it certainly was this year. We started off so slow. Like I said, the last four games have been our best games. We ran it great in Buffalo. We threw it pretty well in the Jets [game]. We were really balanced. The defense was playing really well. We played great against the Chargers last week. This is a game offensively we did a good job. We had a couple of little screw ups but pretty good for the most part. Defensively, they hung on and played their butts off – shut them out in the first half, which was pretty spectacular. You are not going to shut this team out for four quarters, certainly not at home. It was a great team win.”
