LeBron James Told Of Secret Plan To Land Anthony Davis This Summer

The Los Angeles Lakers may try to get Anthony Davis again this summer.

Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes says the Lakers will look at potential trade packages between now and the draft to try and sign Davis.

The NBA Draft Lottery came like a surprise this year. The New Orleans Pelicans won the No.1 pick and the Memphis Grizzlies took the second.

The New York Knicks were handed the No. 3 pick, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns went out of the top four.

The Lakers moved to the No.4 pick, and Haynes believes they can make a good offer for the Pelicans star. Things are getting really interesting at this point.

“That’s going to be a top pick,” he said on Yahoo Sports’ The Spin. “This draft has the potential to be one of the deepest drafts since the 2003 draft with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Carmelo came out. Any time you talk about assets, that you should give you a little sign that: ‘this is a pick that we don’t plan on keeping.’ You look at what the Lakers are doing right now with the youth movement and LeBron James, you don’t want to stay in a youth movement situation for too much longer.

“With LeBron James you need to move on and move on fast. So with the No 4 pick in this draft, this is a situation where they can package that and try to bring in some talent. Obviously they’re going to be knee deep in the AD sweepstakes this offseason and that’s what he [Rob Pelinka] means. For them bumping up and getting the fourth pick, that’s a good situation for them to be in, puts them in prime position to try and nab Anthony Davis.

“That’s what Rob Pelinka means by asset. I would be very surprised if that fourth pick—first of all, I’d be surprised if they picked that, make that pick, then I’d be surprised if that pick is on their roster come the 2019-20 season.”

Is there any real chance that Davis ends up playing alongside LeBron James?
