New Update Emerges On Lakers, LeBron Recruiting Anthony Davis

The Los Angeles Lakers tried really hard to get Anthony Davis. However, the New Orleans Pelicans turned down the offer Magic Johnson brought on the table. Johnson is out of the front office now as he decided to resign from his position, and the Lakers will have to send someone else.

Well, it seems like the team is a step closer to landing the Pelicans star. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers are a top favorite at the moment.

Wojnarowski explained that the Pelicans don’t believe there’s a single team that can offer all the players they want in exchange for the star player. pelicans exec David Griffin is now instructing suitors to agree to a multi-team deals. New Orleans wants an All-Star player, a young player who may be an All-Star in near future and two first-round picks. The Lakers can provide everything on this list except for the veteran All-Star.

The Davis saga was one of the reasons LA missed the playoffs.

“Every guy on our team, LeBron was their favorite player growing up,” Rajon Rondo said. “Everyone had the shoes, his jersey. You’re the biggest fan in the world. It’s like you’re playing with MJ, and then you get there, and it’s like your mom and dad, or the person that you looked up to and idolized, doesn’t want you.

“Even some of the old guys were affected. I can’t say a name, but I remember me and the guy were on the bench for the Atlanta game right before the [All-Star] break. The guy was cussing and talking bad about the situation during the game. I was like: ‘Snap out of it. That s— is over with. We’ll get through it. As vets, we have to move forward and not focus on what the young guys are focusing on. Set an example.’ It was a little crazy to see a vet distraught over that.

“He wasn’t around that much,” Rondo said when asked if LeBron’s agent affected the organization. “I’m not a fool, but he doesn’t have a dominant personality; he’s not, ‘Look at me.’ He’s super chill. We’ve had a lot of conversations. I didn’t see him as a threat or controlling anything at all.”
