Stephen Curry Sends Special Message To Kevin Durant After Thrilling Game 5 Win Over Raptors

Kevin Durant left the team alone in Game 5 of the NBA Finals after suffering an Achilles injury. The star had 12 minutes to help the team score points, and he re-injured his right leg. Luckily, this injury didn’t stop the Golden State from winning the game. The Warriors could easily lose this game, but Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry joined forces and Toronto lost. The Warriors couldn’t hide their relief.

“It wasn’t pretty in the second half, but we made just enough plays,” Curry said. “Klay hit a few big shots, DeMarcus gave us great minutes, Draymond obviously doing what he does every night. We talked about going into this game that we know how to win one game and then get back to the drawing board. Obviously prayers up to KD. He gave us what he could and we hope that he makes a speedy recovery. That’s kind of the M.O. of our team. He sacrificed his body for us, I just feel bad for him. I got a lot of emotions right now, it’s crazy.”

How much the Warriors have left to play after forcing a Game 6?

“A whole lot,” Curry said. “I know our crowd is going to be into it. At this stage, we know how hard it is and how hard it’s going to be to come back and we gave ourselves a chance. Game 6 is going to be fun. It’s going to be a dogfight for 48 minutes but we’ll be ready.”

Curry was among the many Warriors players who condemned the cheering of Raptors fans after Durant fell on the floor.

“Very confused around that reaction. It’s not my experience with the people of this city, and I commend obviously Danny Green and Kyle Lowry especially I think they were the ones that were kind of signaling to the crowd, like, let’s check ourselves a little bit and understand this is about an individual, a human being and not, oh, shoot he’s out, he’s hurt, we won the championship. Like that was probably their initial thought and you hate to see that when a guy’s going through pain like that.

“Again, that’s not my experience with this city and I just hope that ugliness doesn’t show itself again as we go forward in this series.”
