Robert Kraft Releases Statement On Tedy Bruschi

Former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi suffered a second stroke, but he recovers really well. The information was confirmed by his family through an official statement. Patriots owner Robert Kraft delivered a message of support for the former Patriot.

“Yesterday afternoon, Tedy had a stroke known as a TIA. He recognized the warning signs immediately: arm weakness, face drooping and speech difficulties. Tedy is recovering well, and would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for all they have done. Tedy and his family thank you for your ongoing encouragement, and kindly ask for privacy at this time.”

Kraft wished Bruschi a complete recovery, delivering a message full of love, thoughts and prayers.

“Since his full recovery from a stroke in 2005, Tedy Bruschi has provided inspiration to so many and positively impacted the lives of others by sharing his story and advocating for early detection of stroke symptoms. While shocked to hear of his recent stroke, known as a TIA, we are relieved to learn that he recognized the early symptoms and immediately sought and received treatment. On behalf of the entire Patriots organization, we extend our love, thoughts and prayers to Tedy and the Bruschi family while we wish him godspeed in a complete recovery.”

Bruschi suffered his first stroke in 2005 after the New England Patriots won their Super Bowl. He recovered nicely, and joined the team in another championship run.

According to Spaulding Rehabilitation’s website, Bruschi’s first stroke was triggered by a blood clot.

“But February 15, 2005, was different. Having just won his third Super Bowl and competed in his first Pro Bowl, Tedy Bruschi, the New England Patriots linebacker, developed a blood clot that caused him to suffer a mild stroke.

“His wife called 911, and Tedy was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital. The team at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital also sprang into action, working with trainers from the Patriots on Tedy’s rehabilitation plan.

“In collaboration with the Patriots’ staff, the Spaulding team developed a physical therapy plan for Tedy that required hard work, perseverance and total commitment from Tedy, his doctors and his therapists. His rehabilitation inspired fans who longed for Tedy’s return to the defensive squad.”
