LeBron James Makes History As Lakers Beat Heat

The Miami Heat played the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, and LeBron James was here to lead this team to another victory. Anthony Davis scored 26 points, and LeBron had 25. The 95-80 win felt good, and it’s the Lakers’ seventh win in a row.

This is the longest winning streak the Lakers have had since the 2010-11 season when they won nine contests in a row. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel said internal analytics showed his team had contested 88 percent of Miami’s shots, keeping the top-3-point-shooting team in the NBA to just 17 percent (6 for 35) from behind the arc.

LeBron said it was just his team winning games. That’s who the Lakers are, and yes, they’ve been doing this for quite some time. LeBron and his team don’t expect to hold opponents at 80, but they do expect to defend every single game and make life hard for other teams.

This winning streak wasn’t the only history for LA. LeBron became the third player in the league history with 1,000 games of 20 or more points. LeBron’s 3-pointer from the left flank put the Lakers ahead by 15 points with just two minutes left, and it came right in front of his former Heat teammate and retired friend, Dwyane Wade. Wade couldn’t do anything but clap his hands in appreciation for the king.

LeBron’s Lakers against the Heat

The Lakers didn’t really rely on 3-point shooting (8 for 32), but found a more efficient way to score. They tried to find Davis from every angle, and LeBron charged into the paint against the team he once played with. Opponents tried to pull out 2-3 zone schemes, and LeBron’s team responded with great passing, finishing the game with 30 assists on 40 baskets.

According to Vogel, it took a little bit to get there. In the first half of the match, his team fired up a handful of quick looks rather waiting for plays to develop inside. LeBron and Davis established position with the ball in the paint, and shut down Miami’s defense.

It was a good win full of great moments for LeBron.
