Stephon Gilmore Among Three Patriots Players Voted To Pro Bowl

The New England Patriots are packed with talent this season. The greatest reward comes at the end of the season. Three players are mentioned in the Pro Bowl discussion. The rosters for the 2020 Pro Bowl were announced Tuesday night. Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore, linebacker Dont’a Hightower and special teamer Matthew Slater will join the group of representatives for the AFC.

This is Gilmore’s third Pro Bowl selection, Hightower’s second and Slater’s eight.

Gilmore is the front-runner for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year, tying for the league lead with six interceptions. This includes two pick-sixes in 14 games. Gilmore posts a passer rating against of 32.8 while covering rivals’ best receivers.

Hightower returned to the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2016. He has played in all but one game for New England in the regular season, stacking 60 tackles, four sacks, nine quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Slater joined forced with Justin Bethel to build the league’s premier punt coverage duo. In Week 4, he blocked a punt that was returned for a score. In Week 7, he recovered a fumble and helped force a muffed punt during the game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This season’s greatest Patriots Pro Bowl snub is wide receiver Julian Edelman. Tom Brady’s favorite target ranks fourth in the NFL with 92 receptions. Linebackers Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins, safety Devin McCourty, left guard Joe Thuney and punter Jake Bailey could have made the list too.

The Baltimore Ravens led all NFL teams with 12 Pro Bowl nods. The New Orleans Saints are right behind with seven, the Kansas City Chiefs come with six and the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers with five players.

The 2020 Pro Bowl is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 26 in Orlando, Fla. Players of teams that reach Super Bowl LIV will not take part in the organization.

The New England Patriots are off to another Super Bowl win and have a real chance to win the title again. The offense struggles, but the defense is here to make things work.
