Elandon Roberts Gives Details On Patriots Captains Meetings With Belichick, Brady

The New England Patriots don’t play in the Super Bowl this season. However, many players are in the Miami area to get ready for Sunday’s game. The NESN Patriots Podcast had linebacker Elandon Roberts and discussed several topics. Elandon talked about the captains meetings with Belichick in 2019, his free agency and his hits in the professional career.

NESN’s Doug Kyed and Zack Cox also discussed Brady’s next move and provided more details on the free agents.

Elandon traveled to South Florida for Super Bowl LIV week, and this time he isn’t a competitor. The Patriots were eliminated from the playoff run following the loss to the Tennessee Titans. In each of Roberts’ first three seasons, they had success. New England defeated the Atlanta Falcons in 2016 and the Los Angeles Rams in 2018. They lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017.

The linebacker had a hard time accepting the loss. This was the Patriots’ earliest playoff defeat since 2009.

“Man, it’s different,” Roberts told NESN.com on Thursday. “It feels weird. But at the same time, it gave me time to spend with the family. I just had the little one — my little girl — so just a lot of family time with her and whatnot. So it’s been different, but I’m enjoying it.”

At the moment, Elandon is focused on his offseason. He will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time on March 18. He will let the film speak for himself, and things aren’t really in hands.

Elandon is ready for more captains meetings with Belichick

The linebacker entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick in 2016. He may want to test the market this time.

“New England, we definitely have some — I mean, that’s where I started,” he said. “Who wouldn’t want to be back where they started? But at the end of the day, it’s a business. So it’s going to be a great one. … I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s going to go. It’s my first go-round (in free agency), so it’s going to be an experience. Whether I’m back in New England or somewhere else, I’ll just have fun with it.”

Elandon had defensive and special teams duties, and he played 58 snaps at fullback this season. He was praised for his blocking ability and even caught a touchdown pass in Week 17.
