Watch: Patriots Owner Robert Kraft Surprises Retired Marines With $100G

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft decided to surprise a group of retired marines Wednesday. Kraft gave $100,000 to the Semper Fi & America’s Fund for wounded warriors during a ceremony at the Massachusetts State House.

“I had no idea that Mr. Kraft was going to put that challenge out here, of $100,000, but I’m really appreciative of it and I know that it will go a great way to helping our wounded or injured, and their families,” said the fund’s chairman and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph G. Dunford.

The Patriots owner attended the event which is the 75th anniversary of the battle of Iwo Jima. The State House has held it for the last twenty years. Kraft accepted the “Gung-Ho” award for the Patriots’ efforts to recognize veterans and their great work. Gillette Stadium became the first arena to honor military service with a POW-MIA  “Chair of Honor.” It’s a seat that stays empty to remind servicemen and servicewomen that there’s always a place for them.

Robert Kraft will do much more for the retired marines

Kraft accompanied Dunford during the ceremony. They talked about a lot of topics. The Patriots owner stood up to accept the award and blindsided Dunford with his announcement.

“I just thank you for what you’ve done for us. I just realized the general also is heading up this fund, so our family would like to give a challenge gift here today of $100,000,” the Patriots owner said.

Gen. Dunford talked about their efforts and their greatest achievements. He provided more details about their work, and the help they have offered.

“We provide a lot of services. For example, care managers, visiting nurses – everything from equestrian programs to brain injury programs,” the general said. “It’ll help. It’ll help a lot.”

The Patriots owner has done a lot of similar efforts, and his name was mentioned in many similar stories. His organization contributes to the community, and they will keep doing their best to help those in need. Kraft’s donations have helped so many people, and we’re looking forward to see other similar initiatives. Patriots players have been involved in many similar events.
